VIA BRASIL BR-163 STARTS PROVIDING SERVICES TO BR-163 AND BR-230 USERS

The concessionaire of Grupo Conasa manages the stretch of over 1,000 km between Sinop (MT) and the ports in Miritituba (PA). Users now have, among other services, medical care and a tow truck 24 hours a day.

Traveling more safely, knowing that the driver can have assistance at any time, is one more benefit that users of BR-163 and BR-230 toll roads will be able to enjoy from this Saturday (11/19). On this day, the services of Via Brasil BR-163, the concessionaire of the Grupo Conasa responsible for managing the stretch between Sinop (MT) and access to the ports in Miritituba (PA), begin their operations. The toll road is considered the main corridor for the flow of grain production from the Midwest region to the North.

Via Brasil BR-163, whose concession contract will last for 10 years, started, in May, the investment plan of more than R$ 2 billion. In this first phase, called Initial Works, the company mobilized more than 1,700 people and around 700 pieces of equipment to work on several improvement fronts, with the objective of raising the level of safety and trafficability on the road.

“The numbers are impressive and often go unnoticed. We mobilized 10 quarries to supply inputs to produce, approximately, 190 thousand tons of asphalt. We also installed, around, 2,700 new signs and painted over 670 kilometers of new lanes. These improvements will be continuous throughout the concession period”, points out Fernando Fujisawa, the concessionaire's CEO.

Six months after the start of these works, also in accordance with the contract, the time has come to offer and provide services to users. The company implemented four user service bases, located at strategic points on the toll road. These assistance services include emergency medical care; mechanical assistance; firefighting and apprehension of animals; user information system; and complaints and suggestions system. Help on the toll road can be requested by calling 0800 5000 163 or by using a smartphone app.

On the premises, open 24 hours a day, the company provides totems with useful information, a rest area, parking, toilets, baby changing facilities, and access to drinking water.

“Via Brasil BR-163 will operate with a complete fleet of vehicles, which will circulate 24 hours a day on the toll road. The user will have assistance at any point. Our actions, together with the improvements made, will contribute to a safer and more comfortable road for people. We have already had news that traveling time has decreased. This is great, but it also increases the responsibility of the driver, who must pay more attention to signs and respect traffic rules”, points out Regina Paiva, Director of Operations.

Electronic message boards will be part of the operational support along the granted stretch, passing on useful information and instructions to drivers, such as weather conditions and any interruptions along the way. The Operational Control Center monitors the toll road 24 hours a day and manages all the resources on the road, directing assistance.
