CONASA INFRASTRUCTURA JOINS THE WORLD'S LARGEST VOLUNTARY CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

It engages the private sector in actions aligned with the SDGs

Conasa Infraestrutura, a holding company operating in sanitation, public lighting, and toll roads, is the newest member of the UN Global Compact in Brazil, an initiative that engages the private sector in actions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are part of the 2030 Agenda. The decision strengthens the company's initiatives in tune with the 10 universal principles of the UN in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.

With concessions in several states in the five regions of the country, Conasa currently has more than 2,000 employees. The decision to join the UN Global Compact is in line with the company's purpose of developing actions that contribute to facing society's challenges. “All of our work aim to promote the well-being of the population and, through the management and sustainable use of natural resources, we act to mitigate the negative environmental impacts of our activities. Participating in the Global Compact allows us to expand our actions focused on the sustainable development of people and the environment”, says Mario Marcondes Neto, President of Conasa.

With this new step, Conasa Infraestrutura becomes part of the largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative in the world, present in 160 countries, assuming the responsibility of contributing to the achievement of the 17 SDGs that seek to ensure human rights, end poverty, fight against inequality and injustice, achieve gender equality, act against climate change, among other themes of social confrontation. There are more than 40 projects carried out in the country addressing issues related to Water and Sanitation, Food and Agriculture, Energy and Climate, Human Rights and Work, Anti-Corruption, Engagement and Communication.
